Sunday -May 3, 2009 Today was one of that could have easily taken a different direction. I'm glad that we went in the direction that we did.
Myself, Alan and Janet had plans to go standup paddleboarding at our favorite spot today. The day before had been such a beautiful flat calm day and we thought it would be great do take in a day of flatwater paddling. However, we found ourselves looking at strong south winds today. We started to scratch the idea of going but decided to go anyway.
We were to meet at our self proclaimed "Slackers Beach" at 11:00. We were all running late but we decided that should be a requirement when going to Slackers Beach. You're not a very good Slacker if you're on time!
When we arrived, we found that our sleepy little beach was packed with kite boarders. The strong South wind made this a perfect place for them to play.
We pulled out our chairs and watched the show for a while before getting out on our paddleboards. I was amazed at the speed, agility and fun of these kiteboarders!
One of the guys brought out a surfboard to ride with the kite. We offered him the use of our much larger YOLO board and he was able to give his friend a ride as well.
All of the kiteboarders were all very courteous of our presence and maneuvered their boards very well. It was fun to be paddling among all this activity.
Alan decided to take out the little video camera and get in the water among the action. These 2 cameras was enough to really get the action going! Everyone was having a great time and we were having fun recording it.
